Dancer

A woman in a dress, doing oversplits - kicking her heel up beyond 180 degrees.A relatively simple watercolour for Christmas last year. This one has no gold leaf, no complicated under drawing, and no ink lines. It was purely a study of a woman dancing. This was a commission, and is postcard sized.

I did a quick under-drawing for the correct positioning and proportion, outlining the things I needed, and then I washed in the figure, the dress, and the background in that order. The hair and the dress had a couple of extra layers, and the figure needed facial details, but it was all relatively quick and simple, and a really good break from the other work I was doing.
