Red Curtain

three-shade red marker pen image of blowing curtains and a container in a dark red areaThis is a thumbnail for a foot-square deep colour piece. The blue on blue image and its companions are popular, and a couple of people who have seen them have encouraged me to work on something deep red. I have one of those on the go, but while the glazing dries I thought I should try another, in a different method. Rather than building up the form as I go, I want to try an underpainting and then glaze it all at once. When the crimson goes over it, it should suddenly take on a deep red colour. If not, I have a wasted underpainting, but the drying time of a test piece in preparation for glazing is too long for it to be worthwhile.
