Cezanne’s Forest: Day 5

This was the last day’s painting, where everything had to come together. The darkness over on the left has to give way to light, bight colours on the right. The only thing that was depressing was that a heart-shaped lump of red that had been in the main tree since very early on had to be painted over, to deepen the colours. Because I had chosen something high-chroma, I could not have the subtle desaturated colours with which I had started the outlining of the tree.

I darkened the tree outlines with black, which I did not use elsewhere, and put in the broken forest patchwork background to the left, and then I was done.
