A relatively simple watercolour for Christmas last year. This one has no gold leaf, no complicated under drawing, and no ink lines. It was purely a study of a woman dancing. This was a commission, and is postcard sized.
I did a quick under-drawing for the correct positioning and proportion, outlining the things I needed, and then I washed in the figure, the dress, and the background in that order. The hair and the dress had a couple of extra layers, and the figure needed facial details, but it was all relatively quick and simple, and a really good break from the other work I was doing.
